What is a Luau?

Everyone knows that a Luau is a big feast, but did you know that the word luau is a misnomer. The word 'Luau' actually refers to the leaf of the taro plant served at a Luau.  However today, even native Hawaiians use the word 'Luau' to refer to a party and have Luaus to celebrate important occasions such as births, birthdays, weddings and graduations.

While in Hawaii, you should plan to attend a Luau, its a must for any trip.  You can review our Luaus by Island, we offer reviews and suggestions of which to attend. At all Luaus there is usually lots of local food, music and hula dancing.
